Terms of Service

Matey introduces people who might live well together. We host the listings and the conversations; the housing agreement itself is always between you and the other person.
Who you are agreeing with
Matey is operated by Sweat Keyboard Solution. Creating an account means you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not create an account — you can still browse rooms as a guest.
You must be 18 or older
Renting a room is a contract, so Matey is for adults only. You confirm you are at least 18 when you sign up. Accounts we find to belong to minors are removed.
Your account is yours to keep secure
Use a real email address you control and keep your password to yourself. Everything done from your account is treated as done by you. Tell us at support@mateyhq.com if you think someone else has access.
What you post stays yours
Your listings, photos, profile and messages remain your content. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, and to show it to the people you are showing it to — other users browsing the app. We do not sell it, license it onward, or use it in advertising.
What you may not post
No fake or duplicate listings, no rooms you have no right to let, no discrimination or harassment, no sexual content, no scams or off-platform payment tricks, no impersonation, and nothing illegal where the room is. The Community Rules spell this out and are part of these terms.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
There is no tolerance here for objectionable content or for abusive users. Every listing and every conversation has a Report action, and you can block anyone at any time. We read every report and act on it within 24 hours of receiving it: content that breaks the rules is removed, and the person who posted it loses their account. In serious cases — threats, scams, sexual content, anything aimed at a minor — that happens immediately and without notice, and we may suspend an account while we look into it. Someone ejected for abuse is not welcome back under a new account.
We do not vet listings, people, or prices
Verification badges reflect only the checks actually completed, and match stars are a compatibility estimate from what people tell us about themselves — not a recommendation or a guarantee. Meet in person, view the room, and check documents before you pay anyone anything. Never send a deposit to someone you have not met.
The agreement is between you and the other person
Matey is not a landlord, agent, guarantor or party to your tenancy. We do not handle rent or deposits. Disputes about a room, a deposit or a tenancy are between the people in them, and local tenancy law applies to them, not these terms.
Availability and changes
The service is provided as it is, and can change or be interrupted. We will give notice in the app before a change that materially reduces what you get. Continuing to use Matey after a change to these terms means you accept the new version.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. Deletion removes your account and the records tied to it — profile, listings, saved rooms, threads, messages, the viewings arranged in them, your blocks, and the photos you uploaded. It cannot be undone. Two things are handled differently — a report somebody else filed about you, and entries in a shared household ledger, which belong to the household rather than to you alone. The Privacy Policy says why, under "How long we keep it".
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Nothing here removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived by agreement.
